One of the good things to have come out of the CODID-19 crisis is that it has forced local authorities to engage with residents in more innovative ways.
Online meetings, Facebook live and other digital ways of engaging the community has been around for years. Still, local authorities, or at least the ones in Surrey have been reluctant to embrace open digital engagement until now.
The Surrey Heath Local Committee is trialling meaningful local digital engagement, and it has already held some online events, including this Q&A, which was held on Zoom and live-streamed on Facebook.
The Surrey Residents Network will publish details of these events from across the county as we feel that engagement by elected representatives is very important.
Congratulations to all of the Surrey Heath Councillors involved in this by making themselves available to be held to account.
