Mytchett resident creates Christmas competition for best painted stone

Mytchett resident Kay Attwood has come up with a novel idea for a Christmas competition. She got the inspiration when visiting a neighbouring village where residents had painted stones and left them along a tree-lined avenue to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Kay is encouraging residents to paint stones, photograph their handy work and the place them at the base of the village sign in Mytchett.

The Resident’s Network only posted last week that it is never to early start thinking about Christmas and it seems Kay agrees.

Kay is offering cash/voucher equivalent prizes, which have been sponsored by local businesses. There will be four categories, three for children and one for adults.

When we spoke to Kay, she said “It would be great if each ward in Surrey Heath did the same. I have written to my local councillor to see if he will encourage the council to get involved.”

We love this idea and think it will catch on all over Surrey.

What do you think?
